Romantic Disney World Celebrations

Summer is almost here, which means two things for many of us: family Disney World vacations and wedding anniversaries. When these two summertime staples happen to fall at the exact same time, it’s easy for the family fun to eclipse the one-on-one. But never fear! We’ve got you covered with some ideas for adding a little romance to your Disney World vacation. Hint: These tips work well for honeymoons and birthdays too!

Tip #1: Reserve a Romantic Dinner

Sure, Disney World is famous for its high-energy character meals and family-friendly food. But it's also home to award-winning fine dining restaurants like Victoria & Albert’s, the only AAA Five Diamond Award restaurant in Orlando (and the only truly kid-free location in the entire Walt Disney World Resort). In our opinion, though, nothing beats California Grill when it comes to romantic dining. Serving Pacific Coastal cuisine atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort, this restaurant offers sweeping views of Disney’s Magic Kingdom theme park. Best of all, when it’s time for Happily Ever After, guests of California Grill are invited to step out onto the platform for an unforgettable view of the fireworks.

Note: Need childcare for your romantic evening? Consider the Disney-approved in-room babysitting services of Kids Nite Out. OR book your kids at The Pixar Play Zone, a drop-off childcare event at the Contemporary Resort.

Tip #2: Add Some Sweetness to Your Fireworks

There’s nothing quite as romantic as watching the fireworks sparkle above Cinderella Castle at Disney’s Magic Kingdom theme park…and it’s even MORE romantic if you don’t have to spend an hour staking out the perfect spot to watch them. For a deliciously perfect view of the fireworks without the wait, consider booking the Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace. Really want to up your romance game? For a limited time, you can add the Enchanted Evening Package to your Dessert Party reservation and receive two romance-themed Magic Bands and luggage tags.

Tip #3: Have the Romance Delivered

Looking for a special surprise on your special day? Disney Floral & Gifts has got you covered.

Jewelry, champagne, flowers, sweet treats, in-room celebrations…if you can dream it, there’s a good chance that Disney Floral & Gifts can make it happen.

Tip #4: Bring on the Buttons

Grab a Celebration Button at the front desk of your Walt Disney World Resort hotel or at the Guest Services window of any theme park. Buttons are free, and there’s one for just about any celebration you can think of: anniversaries, honeymoons, birthdays, personal triumphs, etc. It’s the perfect way to show the [Disney] World that you’re celebrating a special occasion. And if a Cast Member sees you wearing one of these buttons, they just might through a little extra pixie dust your way!

Tip #5: Make The Memories Last

If you've purchased the Memory Maker Photo Package (which we highly recommend), take a minute after each family photo to get a shot with just your sweetheart. Pro Tip: Be sure to ask your Photo Pass photographer if he or she has any Magic Shots at that location. You just might find a little extra magic in your pics once you pull them up on the PhotoPass site!
