Cars Land

If you follow us on Facebook, you've seen pictures and videos of our recent trip to Cars Land at Disney's California Adventure theme park. And today we've got even more details to share about this impeccably themed land.

ATTRACTIONS

There are three major attractions in Cars Land. First, the headliner: Radiator Springs Racers. On this ride, guests travel through Radiator Springs' most beloved hotspots and enjoy appearances by some of their favorite Cars characters. The attraction culminates with a high-speed race against a neighboring vehicle. You guys, there is no description that could do this experience justice. It's one of my favorite rides in any Disney theme park. We would have ridden it over and over again if we could have.

The two other attractions (Mator's Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters) are basically high-quality midway rides. But the incredible theming alone is enough to warrant at least one spin on each of them (I mean, seriously, the line for Luigi's Roadsters is INSIDE his tire shop!), and younger kids will likely want to ride more than once.

Finally, don't forget to check the Times Guide for unique entertainment options in Cars Land, including a high-energy dance party and a visit from Lightning McQueen himself.

DINING

Cars Land has two main dining locations: The Cozy Cone Motel and Flo's V8 Cafe. If you're hungry

for a small bite, hit up the Cozy Cone (but be sure to go early, as long lines develop rapidly). Flo's offers more substantial entrees, making it a great option for lunch or dinner. And if you've got older kids who are content to just hang out for a little bit , make it a point to visit the nearby Alfresco Tasting Terrace located right at the edge of Cars Land. The Terrace offers small plates, California wines, and an incredible view of Radiator Springs.

TOURING TIPS

The biggest drawback to Cars Land is, predictably, the crowds. But there are ways to work around that. Our top tip for enjoying Cars Land to the fullest is to get there early. I'm talking 45 minutes before the park opens. Arriving that early ensures that you will be one of the first people to experience Radiator Springs Racers. You can then enjoy the other two attractions while everybody else is still waiting in line for the headliner. Plus, if you get there early, you may even be able to get a FastPass to ride Radiator Springs Racers again later in the day (especially if you have the MaxPass app).

Once you've ridden all three Cars Land attractions right after rope drop, leave Radiator Springs and explore the rest of the park. Guests tend to head to Radiator Springs first, and most people don't arrive until 30-90 minutes after park opening....so as the morning goes on, crowds will steadily build in the area. Once you've enjoyed the rest of Disney's California Adventure, circle back to Cars Land in the late afternoon. Which brings me to my next point...

Make it a point to head back to Cars Land after dark to see the town lit up. It's an entirely different experience and one you won't want to miss out on. PhotoPass photographers also have ideas for fun pictures on Route 66 after the sun goes down.

FINAL THOUGHTS

To say I was impressed with California Adventure's Cars Land is an understatement. While (obviously) completely different, I feel like the quality of theming is totally on par with Pandora in Disney World's Animal Kingdom theme park. If you've got Cars-lovers in your family (or if you just love Disney), Cars Land is absolutely worth a visit.
