Our Top Disney World Touring Tips
Tip #1: Get to the Parks Early
For some night owls, this is a tough one, but it’s truly crucial to experiencing a successful Disney World vacation. You can accomplish more in the first two hours that a park is open than you can in the entire rest of the day combined. To keep your vacation feeling like a vacation, consider building in relaxation time with a mid-afternoon pool break or an entire day off in the middle of your trip instead.
Tip #2: Consider Character Meals
If character meet-and-greets are a high priority for your family, character meals are the way to go. You’ll get to meet multiple characters at once without sacrificing park time waiting in line.
Bonus Tip: Because character meals are typically more expensive than other table-service meals, they’re an excellent use of sit-down credits for those guests who are on the Disney Dining Plan.
Tip #3: Avoid Extra Magic Hours (usually)
On certain days of the week, select parks open early or stay open late, exclusively for onsite guests. Seems like a good perk on paper, right? In reality, Extra Magic Hours draw thousands of onsite guests, jamming the parks and completely negating the benefit of getting there early or staying late. It’s usually a much better plan to visit a less crowded park that day: you’ll get just as much done while enjoying lower crowds.
Exception: If you have the Park Hopper option AND you have family members who can go all day long without a break, you could hit Extra Magic Hours early and then hop to a less crowded park later (or vice versa).
Tip #4: HAVE A SOLID TOURING PLAN
This is, by far, our most important tip. Regardless of whether you visit during the least busy or the most crowded times of the year (or somewhere in between), having a solid touring plan is the single most important predictor of a successful Disney World vacation. This is NOT a set-in-stone schedule; it’s just a guide for when to hit which attractions so you won’t be spending all day in line. No idea where to start? No worries: we’ve got you covered.
