Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace

The Walt Disney World Resort offers reserved viewing opportunities for all of its nighttime shows: dining packages, dessert parties, FastPasses, etc. Last weekend, we attended one of these events: the Tomorrowland Terrace Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Theme Park. In the past, all guests of this dessert party received a reserved table at the Tomorrowland Terrace restaurant where they would remain for the duration of the fireworks show. Recently, however, Disney added another option: standing-room only in the Plaza Garden. Since some of us had previously attended this dessert party with reserved seating in the Terrace, we opted to try the Plaza Garden viewing this time.

How It Works

The dessert portion of the event is the same for all party guests. Check-in at Tomorrowland Terrace begins about 75

minutes prior to the fireworks, but guests can arrive any time after that (we were finishing dinner and didn’t show up until about 50 minutes before showtime). Once checked in, guests are shown to their tables. They’re then free to enjoy the decadent dessert buffet for as long as they like. Seriously guys, this is a HUGE spread. Be sure to check out additional pics of the offerings on our Facebook page.

As showtime nears, the process becomes different for guests who’ve booked reserved seating versus those who have Plaza Garden viewing. Guests with seating simply remain at their assigned table until the fireworks begin (these tables are on the bottom level of the Terrace near the railing closest to Cinderella Castle). Those with Plaza Garden viewing head back to the check-in podium once they’ve had their fill of dessert where a Cast Member will escort them to the Plaza Garden for fireworks viewing.

What We Thought

It’s hard to express how much we adored this event. The desserts are amazing (we tried pretty

much everything on the buffet, and there was nothing that at least one of us didn’t love). And the Plaza Garden provided an exceptional view of the Happily Ever After fireworks. As opposed to the recently-retired Wishes fireworks, Happily Ever after is best viewed from a central location…and the Plaza Garden provides that. In fact, we would strongly recommend the Plaza Garden view over the reserved seating in the Terrace (which is off to the side and provides a skewed vantage point of the show).

Additional Details

Advance reservations are required for this event and can be booked online through your My Disney Experience account or by calling Disney Dining at 407-939-3463. The cost of the Plaza Garden Dessert Party is $59 per adult and $35 per child ages 3-9. If you’d prefer reserved seating in the Terrace, the price tag jumps to $79 per adult and $47 per child ages 3-9. But as I mentioned earlier (and I can’t stress this enough), the less-expensive Plaza Garden viewing is far superior to the view from the Terrace.
