Pirate Night on the Disney Cruise Line

Aaarrrrgh, Mateys…and ahoy from the Disney Wonder! Yesterday was one of my favorite days on

the Disney Cruise Line…Pirate Day! This themed day can be found on nearly all of Disney Cruise Line’s Caribbean and Bahamian sailings. The pirate celebration goes on all day, and it includes TONS of special events.

First, the characters. All day on Pirate Day, you’ll see unique character appearances (think Captain Jack Sparrow and Tinker Bell). Traditional Disney characters also offer meet-and-greets throughout the day, donned in their own pirate costumes. All of these favorites then reappear after dark in a not-to-be missed pirate deck show.

Speaking of the deck show, you and your family will begin the evening with a rollicking dance party. But beware: before the night is through, a band of pesky scallywags just might commandeer the ship (no worries, though: as always, Mickey will save the day!). The deck party culminates with the largest fireworks display at sea, so be sure to stay until the very end!

But don’t feel like you need to save your pirate prowess for the evening. There are plenty of pirate-themed activities throughout the day in the kids’ clubs AND in the family lounge. Best of all: friendly buccaneers take over the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in the morning and offer pirate makeovers throughout the day (advanced reservations are highly recommended). Even if a pirate makeover is not your speed, be sure to bring some pirate gear with you: most guests choose to dress up for the day!

And finally, the food. You’ll find specialty pirate-themed beverages in the bars and an incredible pirate menu in all three main restaurants (FYI: the crab cake appetizers, the Treasures of the Sea main course, and the pirate cheesecake tart are all on point). To top it all off, be sure to swing by Cabanas for a late-night pirate buffet!
