Disney's Art of Animation Resort

We were fortunate enough to stay at the Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s newest onsite Resort hotel, in October 2014. Created in celebration of some of the most popular Disney-Pixar movies, this unique Resort simply feels like home. Today, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite (and not-so-favorite) things about this incredible onsite Resort hotel.

One of the best aspects of the Art of Animation Resort is its theming. Larger-than-life icons of beloved Disney-Pixar characters make this Resort immensely popular for children. Guests can choose from Lion King, Finding Nemo, or CARS themed family suites. Little Mermaid-themed standard rooms are also available for families who don’t need quite so much space.

Speaking of rooms, the Art of Animation’s spacious suites sleep up to six guests, providing the perfect solution for larger families who may otherwise have limited lodging options. All suites

feature a master bedroom with a queen bed, as well as a living area with BOTH a double sleeper sofa and a pull-down Murphy Bed (the Murphy Bed doubles as a table during the day). Suites also have TWO full bathrooms and a kitchenette, making it super simple to prepare breakfast and light snacks in your room. Note that Little Mermaid standard rooms have only two double beds and one bath (no kitchenette).

When you’re not lounging in your roomy family suite or your Little Mermaid standard room, be sure to take advantage of all that the Art of Animation Resort

has to offer. Art of Animation’s food court, Landscape of Flavors, boasts some of the most extensive breakfast and lunch/dinner options on property. And the Big Blue pool? Your little fish will love it!

Of course, there are a few drawbacks to the Art of Animation Resort. First, like all Value Resorts, the Art of Animation is farther from the theme parks and is quite spread out, which means there’s more walking within the resort itself. Also, because the Resort houses so many guests, buses can become crowded during peak times of the day. For many families, however, the theming and spacious suites more than compensate for these potential negatives. And like ALL Disney onsite Resorts, the Art of Animation offers some pretty amazing perks: complimentary transportation to and from the airport, frequent transportation to and from the theme parks, the ability to make FastPass reservations 60 days in advance, and much more!
